Independence Day

July 4th was a big day at the Yen household... we had basically our whole church over for a huge party! It rained the day before and was overcast the morning of the 4th, but thankfully the weather cleared and we had a sunny afternoon.

Setting up.

The party started with most of the men and a couple of ladies going golfing at the course that is right by our house. Unfortunately we do not have any photos of the golf game, but Dad asked me to post the results of the outing:

• Lowest Group Score : Brian and Ethan Webb in Group 4 with a score of 36 (Par 35)

• Closest To The Pin : No winner as no one hit the green from the tee

• Longest Putt : Bill Geaschel from Group 2

• Longest Drive : Daniel Hill from Group 3 with a monster 325 yard drive on the 9th hole!

Each winner received a Titleist cap with magnetic ball marker!!

Other scores
41 by Group 1 - Roger Von Holten, Luke Von Holten, Jonathan Erber, & Joseph Erber

39 by Group 2 - Bill Geaschel, Vance Hirst, Josh Erber, & Grant Strand

38 by Group 3 - Daniel Hill, Wendy Hill, Vern Beatty, & Beth Beatty

38 by Group 5 - David Yen, Sebastian Fowlks, Dustin Webb, & David Inyart

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While the gentlemen (and ladies) were out golfing, the majority of the ladies and children hung around at our house and played croquet, badminton, and bean bag toss, or just relaxed.
Mrs. Ortega tells a story to a captivated audience.
All the little kids wanted to put their feet in the hot tub! (Which wasn't hot, as our power went out the night before and it cooled off!).
Winston.
After the golfers came back and we had had dinner, we did some games, including an egg toss, three-legged race, and potato sack race. We only got pictures of the egg toss - some folks were pretty messy!
Egg toss...
The winners with their unbreakable egg! :-)
Mrs. Strand & Maggie - with a football.
By then it was dark, and we sat on the deck and watched some fireworks, which were rather distant, though we definitely heard the neighbors shooting some off! It was a fun filled day, and thanks to everyone who came and helped make it special!
