Daddy Daughter Day

It all started when Wendy casually suggested having a Father Daughter Retreat to us on one of their visits here. After that phone calls began to be more frequent, our art lessons began to be about an hour longer than usual and planning was abundant.

Finally the "big day" came and we awoke bright and early and headed to the Hill's home to set up:
Me drying off the fresh ivy for the tables

Arranging the ivy in the tulle

We had planned to have the table set out on the deck - one long table with a large center piece, but there was a chance of showers so plans were changed and we had to do two separate tables indoors.

We created this center piece the morning of - how do you like it?

The other table with the original center piece

Everyone begins to arrive and we are serves breakfast and....

Enjoy some lawn games

Volleyball

What's that cute little boy doing at the Daddy Daughter Day?

We don't have ANY pictures from the mid-day activities, so content yourself with text. After volleyball, we all had a picnic lunch and listened to "Doug Phillips" give a talk on Dad's and Daughters. :-) With full stomachs, hot sun beating down on us, and being pretty worn out from volleyball, you can imagine that we were a little drowsy, but the Carlsons and Von Holtens had some fun games to wake us up! First came "water balloon volley ball" where teams of four take the corners of a sheet and launch the water balloon over the net and the opposite team has to catch it in the sheet. It was difficult at first, but after we got a system down it was really fun! Then came a water balloon toss where Kathryn and Heather got soaked. And finally a relay race (our team won!)

Wendy, Mr. Hill, Joanna and Mr. Erber then taught us how to waltz in preparation for the formal dance in the evening. After about an hour, everyone had it down.

Another quick game of volleyball and we all headed inside to get cleaned up and "smelling nice" for the evening:

Sorry Dawn.....I couldn't resist! We all agreed that she should just go like that! :-)

Thanks to the Hills for hosting this! It was a fabulous day!

I still cannot belive that people wonder why I'm so camera shy when shots like that one make it onto blogs! Its a wonder that pic did not bust the camera much less give your computer a melt down! ... WOW ... Way way to crazy!

LOL... I came down while Tara was posting and it was right when she was uploading that pic... I said "Dawn is going to KILL you for that!!" I suppose the bright side is that we did have a lot of fun and make memories while doing our hair and since it's now photographically recorded we will make sure we don't forget those memories...
Partially consoled?? :-)
