Riddle of the Month Winner - or not!

Believe it or not, there were NO correct answers for October's riddle! We had people saying 12 pears were left, and people who said that 0 were left. Neither is correct!

The riddle was:

Twelve pears are hanging high, twelve pears are hanging low. Along come twelve men, and they all take one. How many are left?

The answer is:

There are 23 pears left! The reason is that ALL twelve men, as a group, took ONE pear!

Nice try to all who answered this riddle! Maybe we'll make next month's a little less tricky...

Snow in October!

Who would have thought that we would get snow in early October? Well, we did! It froze last night, and this morning began to flurry....then the flakes got bigger and came down faster and thicker. This is what we were left with...

Snowy grass!

This is our miniature log cabin. No, it is not our house. ;-)

The sitting area of our deck.

There is still a little of Autumn left!

Well, it is supposed to be in the sixty's this weekend, so the snow won't last for long...

Cat versus Dog Diary

Thought this was kind of funny for cat and dog owners. It is a diary someone wrote pretending they are first a dog and then a cat.

Excerpt from a Cat's Daily Diary

Day 183 of my captivity ~ My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant. Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair, must try this on their bed. Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, not working according to plan. There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage. I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait. It is only a matter of time.

More Yen Family Pet Rescue

A new addition to the Yen Family Pet Rescue...another kitten! She already has a home a few blocks down from us and will most likely have a good home. They already have a cat (not one that we rescued!) named Boo, and this kitten they are planning to name Bella (Italian for "beautiful"). We may have this kitty for a few days so the family taking her can prepare a confined place for her to stay, and a few days where the Mom can be at home. Here are some more pictures:

There are two more kittens outside that we know of, but only one comes to eat. Hopefully we can catch those two and find them homes.
