I apologize for never posting a riddle of the month for August! So instead, I will do two easy riddles for September. Here we go...

1. A horse is tied to a 10 foot rope. But there his hay is 20 feet away. How does he get to it?

2. "My voice is tender, my waist is slender, and I am often asked to play; but wherever I go I must take my bow, or else I have nothing to say. What am I?"

July Riddle of the Month Winner

Guess what... I AM ON TIME! Today is the last day of July and I am actually putting up the winner of the riddle of the month. Shocking, isn't it?
Anyway, this month's winner is:

Anna Joy!

The riddle was:
A man brought his sick parrot to the vet to find out what was wrong. After looking the parrot over, the vet said, "I'm sorry, sir, but your parrot is going to die." The man, being very upset at the news, asked, "Are you sure?" The vet replied, "Well, I can double check," and brought out a black lab. The dog sniffed the parrot, and then looked at the man and shook his head. Then the vet brought in a cat, which sniffed the parrot and also shook its head.
"I'm sorry, sir," said the vet, "But your parrot isn't going to make it. That will be two hundred dollars." "What?" cried the man, "Two hundred dollars just to tell me that my parrot is going to die?"

So the question is, why was the vet charging the man so much money?

And the answer is:
Because of the lab work (or lab report) and the cat scan.

Nice job, Anna! ;-)

Well, last month's riddle did not get any correct answers! I am extending the same riddle to June for two reasons: 1. I want someone to get the right answer (smile) and 2. I am running out of riddles! :-)

So, PLEASE, start guessing... I think I will need to leave this riddle up until I can find or think up another one! :-)

What grows into a really smart flower?

April Riddle of the Month

I didn't think I would have a riddle for April because I was running out, but the other day a friend shared one with me, so here it is:

What can go up the chimney down, but can't go down the chimney up?

March Riddle of the Month Winner

Once again, I apologize for being so behind on the riddle of the month! The winner for March is:

Joshua E.!

At least we think he's the winner. The answer he gave is different than our answer, but we think his works too.

The riddle was:
You are traveling, and you come to a fork in the road. One road leads to a jungle full of cannibals, the other to a beautiful paradise. You do not know which road leads to which place. There are two men standing at the fork; one always tells lies, the other always speaks truth, and you do not know which is which. You may ask them ONE question – the same question to both men. What question do you ask them that will tell you which way to go?

Joshua's answer is:
"What will the other guy tell me if I ask him if this path goes to the beautiful paradise?"

Our answer is:
"What will the other man tell me if I ask him which road to take?"

With both questions you would get the same answer, and then would take the opposite road to the one they told you. Does that make sense?

Like I said, we thought about Joshua's answer (or is it question...) for a while and we are pretty sure it works! This one was tricky for all, I guess! :-)

Riddle of the Month Winner - or not!

Believe it or not, there were NO correct answers for October's riddle! We had people saying 12 pears were left, and people who said that 0 were left. Neither is correct!

The riddle was:

Twelve pears are hanging high, twelve pears are hanging low. Along come twelve men, and they all take one. How many are left?

The answer is:

There are 23 pears left! The reason is that ALL twelve men, as a group, took ONE pear!

Nice try to all who answered this riddle! Maybe we'll make next month's a little less tricky...
